Mississippi COVID hospitalization rate continues to rise as Warren county, other parts of the state see highest one day total

Report shows record high COVID-19 cases in Warren County

In the newest update by the Mississippi Department of Health, Warren County set a county-high 20 new cases in a single day, breaking the previous high of 19 on May, 10.

The county is also averaging just over 13 new COVID-19 cases per day over the past week. According to the Vicksburg Post, this rate is the fastest since the pandemic first started being reported in the county back in March.

The 20 new cases reported on July 2, raise Warren County’s total to 463. Although the number of cases have risen, the death rate has not, as there have been no new COVID-19 related deaths since June 27th. The total virus-related deaths in Warren County remain at 27.

Overall for the state, the seven day average is the highest it has been since the outbreak started.

Governor Tate Reeves has urged Mississippians to follow guidelines on social distancing.
